Ausg‘steckt is!
In Austria, a Heuriger is a wine tavern.
The Heuriger Fuhrgassl-Huber is located in the heart of Neustift am Walde, nestled between vineyards and the Vienna Woods.With its cozy rooms, excellent wines, and romantic courtyard, it is one of Vienna's most popular wine taverns.
„Ausg’steckt is!“ means, that when the bush is hanged out, the wine tavern is open.
Many Heuriger taverns illuminate the wine tavern with a lantern, which in earlier times held a candle. Because the lantern was extinguished as soon as the tavern closed,
the Viennese expression "Laterndler" arose, referring to drunk people who only went home after the lantern was extinguished.
Here you'll find drinks from the tavern's own vineyard, such as wine, grape juice, and cider, and less frequently, beer and schnapps. You can order whatever you like from the hearty Heurigen buffet, from classic Wiener Schnitzel and meatloaf to roast pork with dumplings, cabbage and salad – a good start to get a taste of our Austrian cuisine.
